พบผู้ติดเชื้อไวรัสคล้ายซาร์สรายแรกในฝรั่งเศส หลังคร่าชีวิตคนไป 18 ราย ส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในซาอุดีอาระเบีย

กระทรวงสาธารณสุขฝรั่งเศสรายงานว่า ผู้ติดเชื้อดังกล่าวเป็นชายวัย 65 ปี เพิ่งเดินทางกลับจากสหรัฐอาหรับเอมิเรสต์ และได้รับการวินิจฉัยว่าติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา อันเป็นไวรัสสายพันธุ์ใหม่ นับเป็นการติดเชื้อและได้รับการยืนยันครั้งแรกในฝรั่งเศส ขณะนี้ผู้ป่วยถูกแยกรักษาตัวอยู่ในแผนกไอซียูของโรงพยาบาล โดยต้องใช้เครื่องช่วยหายใจและรับการถ่ายเลือด

ทั้งนี้ เชื้อไวรัสดังกล่าวถูกตรวจพบครั้งแรกกลางปี 2555 ที่ตะวันออกกลาง มีผู้ติดเชื้อมากกว่า 30 คน ในหลายๆ ประเทศ เสียชีวิตแล้ว 18 คน ส่วนใหญ่ในซาอุดีอาระเบีย ซึ่งมีเสียชีวิตไป 11 ราย ส่วนผู้ติดเชื้ออื่นๆ อยู่ในจอร์แดน เยอรมนี อังกฤษ และรายล่าสุดที่ฝรั่งเศส
โคโรน่าไวรัสสายพันธุ์นี้เป็นสายพันธุ์ใกล้เคียงกับโรคทางเดินหายใจเฉียบพลันรุนแรงหรือซาร์ส โดยไวรัสโคโรนาก่อให้เกิดอาการเป็นหวัดและปอดบวม มีหลายอาการที่คล้ายโรคซาร์ส แต่ต่างตรงกันที่สามารถทำให้ไตวายภายในเวลาอันรวดเร็ว

ขณะที่กระทรวงสาธารณสุขฝรั่งเศสกล่าวว่าดูเหมือนไวรัสอาจติดต่อจากคนสู่คน แต่ดูเหมือนไม่มีการระบาดรุนแรง และเจ้าหน้าที่กำลังติดตามผู้ที่อาจติดต่อสัมผัสใกล้ชิดกับผู้ป่วย

กระทรวงสาธารณสุขฝรั่งเศสกล่าววันนี้ว่า ตรวจพบผู้ป่วยรายที่ 2 ที่ติดเชื้อไวรัสเอ็นโควี-อีเอ็มซี ซึ่งมีลักษณะคล้ายกับโรงระบบทางเดินหายใจเฉียบพลัน หรือ โรคซาร์ส ในห้องพักห้องเดียวกับผู้ที่ติดเชื้อรายแรกในโรงพยาบาลที่เมืองลิลล์ เมื่อสัปดาห์ก่อน ขณะนี้แพทย์ได้แยกตัวผู้ป่วยคนใหม่ออกมาจากห้องเดิมแล้ว

แพทย์กล่าวว่า ผู้ป่วยคนแรกมีอาการรุนแรงแต่ยังทรงตัวอยู่ ก่อนหน้านี้เชื้อไวรัสเอ็นโควี-อีเอ็มซี ได้คร่าชีวิตประชาชนไปแล้ว 18 คน ส่วนมากอาศัยอยู่ในซาอุดีอาระเบีย

สำนักข่าวต่างประเทศรายงานเมื่อวันที่ 13 พ.ค.ว่า องค์การอนามัยโลก(ฮู) ยืนยันว่าเชื้อไวรัสคล้ายซาร์ส อาจสามารถติดต่อผ่านคนสู่คนได้ จากหลายกรณีของการติดเชื้อที่ผ่านมา ที่เห็นได้ชัดว่า เชื้อไวรัสดังกล่าวสามารถแพร่จากคนสู่คนได้ แต่ขณะนี้องค์การอนามัยโลกยังเห็นว่า หน่วยงานนี้สามารถรับมือกับผู้ป่วยที่ติดเชื้อดังกล่าวได้ และโอกาสที่เชื้อไวรัสดังกล่าวจะแพร่เชื้อจากคนสู่คนยังถือว่าต่ำมาก

การยืนยันนี้มีขึ้นหลังจากไวรัสดังกล่าวซึ่งยังไม่มีการระบุชื่อ จะส่งผลให้ผู้ติดเชื้อเกิดอาการปอดบวม และทำให้ระบบไตล้มเหลว ก่อนจะเสียชีวิต และผู้เชี่ยวชาญยังไม่รู้ว่า ไวรัสนี้แพร่จากแหล่งใด หรือแพร่จากอากาศหรือไม่ แต่ผู้เชี่ยวชาญเตือนด้วยว่า ไวรัสนี้หากมีการติดเชื้อยังผูู้คน จะร้ายแรงยิ่งกว่าโรคซาร์ส ที่เคยระบาดอย่างหนักในช่วงปี 2003 และทำให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตกว่า 800 คน

ทั้งนี้ ปัจจุบัน มีผู้ติดเชื้อไวรัสคล้ายซาร์สนี้ 34 ราย และเสียชีวิตแล้ว 18 ราย โดยรายหนึ่งที่ติดเชื้อเป็นชาวอซาอุดิอาระเบีย โดยผู้ติดเชื้อจะมีโอกาสรอดชีวิตไม่ถึง 50 เปอร์เซนต์

RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia has confirmed four new cases of the SARS-like novel coronavirus in its Eastern Province, state media reported late on Monday, citing the health ministry.

The health ministry said one of the four new cases had been treated and the patient had been released from hospital, while the three other new cases were still being treated, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia said it had had a total of 24 confirmed cases since the disease was identified last year, of whom 15 had died. In its latest outbreak in its Eastern Province, it said it had had 15 confirmed cases, of whom nine had died.

World Health Organisation officials visiting Saudi Arabia to consult with the authorities on the outbreak said on Sunday it seemed likely the new virus could be passed between humans, but only after prolonged, close contact.

The new virus (nCov) can cause coughing, fever and pneumonia. A virus from the same family triggered the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) that swept the world after emerging in Asia and killed 775 people in 2003.

French authorities announced on Sunday that a second man had been diagnosed with the disease after sharing a hospital room with France's only other sufferer, who had recently traveled in the Middle East.

28LILLE, France : French health authorities said Friday they suspected a third person of being infected after coming into contact with a man confirmed to be suffering from a new SARS-like virus that has killed 18 people, mostly in Saudi Arabia.

“We have a third suspected case this morning, a nurse fromDouai” in northern France, the deputy director of the regional ARS health agency, Sandrine Segovia Kueny, told France Bleu Nord radio. A 65-year-old man is in intensive care in a hospital inDouaiafter being diagnosed with the novel coronavirus following a holiday inDubai.

The patient, who was inDubaifrom April 9 to 17, has been placed in isolation and is being given respiratory assistance and blood transfusions.

French health authorities said late Thursday they feared that two people - a man who who had shared a room in hospital with the patient, and a doctor who treated him - may also have been infected.

The results of tests conducted on the three people suspected of being infected were due on Friday afternoon, health authorities said.

In theUnited Arab Emirates, of whichDubaiis a member, the health ministry said on Friday that no case of the SARS-like virus had been recorded in the Gulf state.

The UAE was “coordinating” with France on the case and “closely following the health situation” although it was “not a concern” in the emirate itself, the ministry said in a statement published by local media.

The virus, known as nCoV-EMC, is a cousin of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which triggered a scare 10 years ago when it erupted in Asia, leaping to humans from animal hosts and killing some 800 people.

It was first detected in September 2012 and since then more than 30 cases have been reported in different countries, with 18 deaths, including 11 in Saudi Arabia.

The World Health Organisation on Thursday reported two new confirmed cases in Saudi Arabia.

RIYADH - Saudi Arabia has detected six new cases of the deadly coronavirus, the health ministry said, raising the number of people infected from the SARS-like virus in the kingdom to 30, half of them fatalities.

Two of the infections were announced on Tuesday, a day after the ministry said four cases had been registered in Eastern Province, which has been gripped by panic after it was shown to be home to most of the cases in the kingdom.

"Two new confirmed infections were registered in Eastern Province," it said on its website, adding that those infected were nurses and "are receiving needed treatment and medical care".

The ministry had said late Monday that among the four other new cases, "one of the people has recovered and discharged, while the other three are still being treated".

Saudi health authorities are now receiving advice from specialists from US and Canadian universities, the ministry added.

Health Minister Abdullah al-Rabia had said on Sunday that 24 people have contracted the coronavirus, and that 15 of them have died.

The World Health Organization had said earlier that 34 cases have been reported worldwide since the virus was first detected in September 2012, with 18 of the victims dying.

While the virus has been deadliest in Saudi Arabia, cases have also been reported in Jordan, Germany, Britain and France where two patients are now in hospital in the northern city of Lille.

เชื้อไวรัสที่เกิดขึ้นใหม่หรือกลายพันธุ์ ... ต้องเอาเชื้อต้นแบบไปทำการวิเคราะห์ศึกษา พัฒนา ทดสอบวัคซีนเฉพาะสายพันธุ์นั้นๆ อย่างเร็วก็ต้องใช้เวลาพัฒนาอย่างน้อย 8 เดือน ถึงจะมีสิทธิ์เอามาใช้ฉีดป้องกันได้

อย่างไรก็ตาม วัคซีนที่ได้ก็ป้องกันได้เฉพาะสายพันธุ์นั้นๆ เท่านั้น ... หากมีกลายพันธุ์อีก ก็ต้องเริ่มทำใหม่นับ 1 อีก
